Events and Communication Support Officer

I’m proud to work with plants every day, from tiny seedlings in huge nurseries to specialist growers with National Collections. I love meeting people with enthusiasm for nature, and since joining YPHA I’ve loved how passionate all of the members are about uniting the industry. As a career changer I’ve seen first-hand how rewarding horticulture is and I’m on a mission to tell everyone!

In my spare time I work on community gardening projects in and around Manchester, with a special interest in teaching young people to grow their own food and connect with their environment. I’m excited to use my experience in events and social media to not only grow YPHA even more but also attract more people into the trade. The connections and support from the YPHA are unmatched, and it’s truly a community that’s become an essential part of the industry for the under 35s.

During the day Beth works for the Animal and Plant Health Agency and leads their STEM outreach.

Events Support Officer

I have been part of the YPHA community for a few years after hearing about them on social media and thought what a fantastic group to be part of and to surround myself with like minded people who loved horticulture! 

I was lucky enough to be asked to be the floristry ambassador earlier this year and have loved looking after all things floral and wanted to get more involved. The wider YPHA community is incredibly welcoming and supportive and I can’t wait to see where it goes next! 

During the day you’ll find Ellie in the Kitchen Garden at Doddington Hall.

Policy and Safeguarding Officer

Hi there! I’m thrilled to be part of the YPHA. Previously, I’ve had the privilege of working with charitable youth organisations, supporting young people, and developing policies that make a real difference. Being on the operations team to future-proof this superb young persons organisation is an honour.

With a background in commercial and private housing and planning; my love for the outdoors, gardening, and wildlife shapes my perspective on how environments can connect with nature; and look forward to learning more!

I look forward to contributing and making a positive impact on the lives of the youth we represent.

Administration Officer

I’ve been in horticulture for a few years now and throughout my career, the YPHA has been invaluable to my personal and professional development.

I’ve attended countless networking and CPD events because of the YPHA, not to mention taking part in the very first Launch Success Challenge. When the opportunity arose to join the ops team, it seemed the perfect next step.

I am very proud to join the ops team and help to further our mission of uniting people under 35 working in horticulture, as well as encouraging more young people into the industry. As Admin Officer, I’m excited to work on upcoming projects.

Member Wellbeing and Committee Support Officer

My horticultural journey started back in 2011 when I applied for a sales assistant job at my local Squires Garden Centre, where I am now a plant area manager. 

I also do voluntary work with St John Ambulance as a youth leader.

After the pandemic I came across YPHA which gave me the confidence boost I so desperately needed. YPHA has given me an amazing number of new connections, unbelievable experiences and inspirational talks from an array of people across the industry. 

YPHA is like one big family where we always help each other out.

I am super excited to take my role as Member Wellbeing and Committee Support Officer. where I can help support all our amazing members on their professional and personal journeys.
