    We have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Advisor to join our brand-new Viridis Trade Centre located at our Nursery in Lasswade. As the Sales Advisor, you’ll be the main point of contact for all sales through the Viridis Trade Centre, working closely with the Nursery team to maintain high standards of quality and plant care. In this role, you’ll help customers find the right products for their needs, offer expert guidance on plant care, and ensure an exceptional customer experience.

    • Assist customers with product selection, offering knowledgeable advice on plant care and gardening products.

    • Build and maintain positive customer relationships, delivering a high level of service.

    • Keep up-to-date with the latest products and trends to best assist our customers.

    • Ensure the Trace Centre is well-stocked, tidy, and visually appealing at all times.

    • Process customer transactions efficiently and accurately.

    • Support the wider nursery team with stock management and general upkeep of the premises.

    • Assist with the setup and maintenance of product displays.

    • Previous experience in retail, sales, or customer service gained within horticulture or garden centers is essential.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work well in a fast-paced environment

    • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

    • Must have excellent horticultural knowledge.

    • You will need to be trustworthy, reliable, flexible, and punctual.

    • Be innovative and creative in decision making and problem solving.

    • Happy to carry out hands on work such as plant husbandry, picking and packing.

    • Assist in completing and returning logistic information

    • Assist with getting orders onto the system and completing double checks associated with these

    • Complete checks on trolley configurations, builds and nursery requirement lists.

    • Complete specifications for newly launched products each week

    • Support for floor checks at the Farplants Finishing Centre of key account orders waiting to be despatched for quality, pest and disease.

    • Oversea the admin of our key account added value range

    • This includes working closely with the finishing centre team to make sure they have everything they need pre-production.

    • We are looking for a genuine and authentic candidate who can continue the positive, collaborative, and progressive culture that we have, and who will continue to push for excellence in all we do across the department and business as a whole.

    • You do not need to have a horticultural background, but an interest in plants is always helpful. Most importantly you will be a solid and experienced administrator who can learn quickly, analyse processes and is able to suggest efficiencies as part of our continuous improvement programme.

    • You will be collaborative, and solutions focused, as well as comfortable working to deadlines.

Sales Executive Assistant

    This role will work within the proactive and experienced sales office team supporting sales and sales admin functions.

    • Ringing customers to let them know pre-booked plants are ready to send out whilst gaining additional sales.

    • Liaising with Account Managers closely to maximise sales;

    • Calling customers to sell free stock or promotions not in catalogue or special offers;

    • Emailing information to customers;

    • Inputting orders onto computer system;

    • Answering the telephone; 

    • Inputting and administration of bulk orders (forward sales);

    • Attending and participation in Sales meetings;

    • Inputting and maintaining customer information to ensure it is up to date.

    • You will work closely with Account Managers to maximise sales to a pre-existing, nationwide customer base via telephone and email. 

    • Whilst some horticultural knowledge would be helpful, it is not essential. 

    • We are looking for a great communicator with excellent computer skills that can fit into our small but established team. 

    • Although the role is predominantly office-based there may be opportunity to work remotely on occasion.

    • You do not need to have a horticultural background, but an interest in plants is always helpful.

    • Most importantly you will be positive and collaborative – able to work independently and as part of a team.

Assistant Head Gardener

    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the gardens, as directed by the Head Gardener

    • Undertake certain responsibilities as delegated by the Head Gardener including volunteer supervision, inductions on machinery, risk assessments, care of workshops sheds, nursery and tunnel.

    • Apply knowledge of the plant collections and be responsible for its care and maintenance

    • Ensure all planting records are always kept up to date

    • Carry out winter pruning, mulching, blub planting, cutting down the Millennium Garden, clearing all the gardens after winter, dividing perennials

    • Prepare stock for shop sales through propagation of plants from the gardens and oversee plant sales, tend to the productive Nursery throughout the year, provide plants for internal and external events

    • Undertake regular weeding and watering through the summer, division in autumn, building and maintenance of wildlife habitats throughout the year, maintaining ponds and water ways, mowing and strimming throughout the main season

Nursery Worker

  • Four crosses nursery is a family run business on the English/Welsh border in Powys. Gary Swaine started the company over 20 years ago and it has grown into a thriving business.

    We grow container plants for the amenity wholesale market, dealing with the production and dispatch on site.
